Samuel J. Romero

Samuel J. Romero is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and is a resident of the Irvine office. Mr. Romero joined the firm in 2006 after several years in private practice litigating intellectual and commercial property disputes. Mr. Romero concentrates his practice on business litigation involving matters related to borrower and lender defaults (including matters related to Small Business Administration loan programs), business torts, real property disputes, bankruptcy adversary actions, intellectual property disputes, and employment law claims (including wage and hour litigation). Mr. Romero has experience in all aspect of litigation having tried matters individually and by assisting the various partners in state courts and federal courts. Mr. Romero has litigated these matters which have resulted in complete defense verdicts for our defendant clients and multiple million dollar judgments for our plaintiff clients. Mr. Romero also has extensive experience in enforcing and collecting on judgments, in seeking and defending applications for receiverships and attachments, and seeking or defending against applications for temporary protective orders and preliminary injunctions. Mr. Romero is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California and all courts of the State of California.
Mr. Romero received his law degree from Chapman University School of Law cum laude in 2004. During law school, Mr. Romero was the Executive Editor of the Chapman Law Review and graduated in the top ten percent of his class. Mr. Romero earned the top grade in the following classes while at law school: Torts, Civil Procedure, Contracts, Agency and Partnership, Corporations, Constitutional Law, International Business Transactions, and Legal Research and Writing. Mr. Romero also completed judicial externships with Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and Judge Kirk Nakamura of the California Superior Court.
Mr. Romero received his undergraduate degree in Physical Science from Biola University in 1991. Prior to law school, Mr. Romero worked for ten years as a chemist using advanced instrumentation to test food, water, nutritional supplements, and pharmaceuticals. This experience included working at highly regulated manufacturing facilities for the encapsulation and packaging of nutritional supplements; at FDA regulated testing laboratories testing for mercury in fish products, food adulterations, nutritional components, water and fat soluble pesticides by GC and HPLC etc.; at a restaurant franchise corporate center tasked with HACCP quality control and assurance of restaurant food products at both the restaurant and food and produce manufacturing plants; and at a Fortune 500 company distribution and testing center conducting component and microbial testing on nutraceutical blends and raw products.
Active in the professional community, Mr. Romero is a member of the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association and Orange County Bar Association. Mr. Romero has also previously volunteered to coach high school mock trial teams for the Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation and has received the Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Services Award for legal work completed on wage, rent and disability claims in 2004 and 2005.
